Australian Superbike Championship – Round 1 Sydney Motorsports Park
The close of Round 1 of the Australia FX-Superbike Championship brings much success and hope for the Addicted to Track race team.
The three pilots, Chris Quinn contesting Superbike on his YRD backed YZF-R1, Stephanie Redman contesting Supersport on her YRD backed YZF-R6 and Christian Carroll contesting Formula Oz on his YZF-R1 all managed to post personal best lap times and made good progress in the run for the Championship.
With the team only finalised at the start of the year and a lot of work to be had by the mechanics at Edge Competition, testing time was limited for all involved. “The bikes were immaculately prepped but with no testing, they were not set up for me.” Redman explained. “We spent most of the Friday and Saturday fine tuning the setup and with what we had in the bike came up with something pretty workable for my riding style.” This unfortunately was the biggest setback for all riders, however the pace on Sunday proves that all three riders can be fighting for a podium with just a little more development and ride time under their belts.
Scott Hayes of Edge Competition has extensive knowledge when it comes to Yamahas and with the amazing support from YRD the team is confident they can continue to progress and push towards the front of the field. [...]
Stephanie Redman had one of her best weekend of racing yet, with her best result a 4th place finish in the Supersport class. “To be honest, I surprised myself at this round. I felt I could ride fast but my times never reflected this. However, with a bike that works for me I’m now starting to show what I feel I’m capable of.” Redman exclaimed.
Stephanie is no stranger to the track, however has only raced six times in the past two years. With good times she was able to be up the front but the lack of race craft lead to some inconsistent results, “When I found myself in third place I kind of panicked and didn’t know what to do!”
“I wasn’t expecting to go this fast and neither was the team so the bike’s settings were a little out. We’re sitting good in the championship and I’m confident now we can fine tune and get things sorted for round 2 at Queensland Raceway”. [...]
Race art Australia did an amazing job in preparing the bikes, riders and pit walls for display and Addicted to Track team manager/owner Mark McGregor stated, “The bikes and riders look great, and with the live streaming and TV coverage organised by Terry & Gloria we couldn’t be happier with how they present.”
The first round is now out of the way, and the newly formed team will reflect on all areas and come back bigger and better for round 2 at Queensland Raceway. “I was in New Zealand with the Addicted to Track truck servicing clients for the Southern Tour so unfortunately couldn’t make it.” McGregor, “of course, we have some small things here and there to improve but overall the team did an amazing job and I’m looking forward to watching it first hand at my home track.”

The Addicted to Track team would like to thank it’s sponsors and those who came to support us and our riders.
