Couldn’t be happier with my day in the office finished in a close 2nd in the Cre8Work - Edenvale Ladies 250 Cup and finishing in 10th for my first ever 450cc race.
I just want to say a huge thank you to Shaun Vermaak for giving me the opportunity to race the 450cc; I cannot explain how much I’m enjoying it. A big congratulations to all the ladies, you all raced so well.
Extremely ecstatic about the second Cre8Work Ladies Cup where I came first in the second race. Thank you ladies for an incredible battle look forward to the last race. Big congratulations to Mia Gaspar, I can not believe how much you have improved, not long now and you’ll be fighting for podium position.
Unfortunately my Super Motard race on the 450cc, didn’t go well as I had riders crash in front of me, I had nowhere to go and crashed. Thank you Sandra Shelly for coming to help me out and taking myself and my bike back to pits.
Unfortunately I missed out on Friday's practice at the echerfiche Raceway. Saturday morning we where up before the sun rose and when we arrived I was hit with flashbacks of racing here four years ago in the 150cc class.
Qualifying in the Cre8Work Ladies cup didn’t go exactly as planned as the surface was quite slippery when we went out, until the tyres warmed up. But nevertheless I qualified on the front row of the grid in 3rd.
I went into the SM2 qualifying almost blind as I’d never ridden the 450cc motard before and only being offered the ride that morning. Where I qualified in acceptable 14th.
Race one of the Cre8Work Ladies class I had a good start but unfortunately in the first lap I messed up the gears due to the opposite shifting on the Motard causing me to loose time on leader Nicole van Aswegen. After having to dig deep I finished in a close 2nd.
Race one of the SM2 I improved in both times and positions and I finished in 10th. After having to learn how to overtake on the 450cc.
Race two on the Cre8Work Ladies 250cc I had a fantastic race up against Nicole Van Aswegen. We both got good starts and Nicole got the hole shot. I had to do some daring moves to be able to make a pass. Where I finished in a very happy 1st.
Race two of the SM2 was sadly short lived. In the second lap two riders collided right in front of me, I had nowhere to go and had a hard fall.
Race three of the Cre8Work Ladies cup I was stiff and bruised after the crash but didn’t loose my focus. Yet again Nicole van Aswegen and I had a close battle to the line with breathtaking unexpected moves from the both of us. I finished in first closely followed by Nicole and Sandra Shelly. Finishing overall in 1st followed by Nicole van Aswegen and Sandra Shelly in 3rd.
For my final race of the day in the SM 2 class. I was unfortunately pushed wide onto the grass in the first turn but worked my way to 14th. After the checkered flag we had a caliper malfunction and I went over the handlebars.
With all the ups and downs I couldn’t have asked for a better day. I’ve got to say a big thank you to everyone who made the Cre8Works Ladies Cup possible. I also want to say a big big thank you to Shaun Vermaak and Ruperd Fourie for offering me the opportunity to race the 450cc motard as well as giving me all the advice and technical support that helped me achieve my victories. Thank to to my amazing parents for always having my back no matter what. Thank you to bubs (Sandra Shelly) for always being there to pick me up when I fall, I couldn’t ask for a better best friend.
