This weekend was my first race on a 1000cc motorbike. I could not have asked for a better race weekend, thanks to Shaun Vermaak and Ruperd Fourie from Industry Motorcycles for organizing this opportunity.
Unfortunately Friday morning didn’t go as planned on the R6. A huge thank you to uncle Jannie Oosthuizen for giving me the opportunity and entrusting me with your magnificent ZX-10, enabling me to continue with the race weekend. I can not explain how much I enjoyed racing the ZX-10 much appreciated.
We were able to get two back to back half sessions in on Friday afternoon to quickly adapt to the immaculate piece of machinery. Saturday morning I qualified in 21st and dropped two seconds from my times in free practice on Friday.
Race one got off to a great start, we finished in 14th positive after some great racing and dropping another three seconds off my qualifying time. Race two was just the cherry on top. Finishing in 10th and dropping another second off my times. Insuring me with a 2nd in the Sub10 A class and First in the Sub10 ladies class.
Thanks to uncle Johan Nortje and all the other competitors for some great racing. Through out the weekend I improved continually thanks to the professionalism, advice and great bike set up thanks to Industry motorcycles. Thank you to my dad for supporting me, getting me to the track and always having my back no matter what.
