Addicted to Track Racing – Race report - Round 2 Australian FX Superbike Series

"Round 2 at QR, our ‘home track’ was very productive in results and team effort – we worked well together to progress the YRD Supported Yamaha R1 and R6 machines to quicker lap times during the course of the weekend which resulted in eight podiums from a possible eleven in Superbike and Supersport classes – very commendable for the entire team." - Mark McGregor, Addicted t o Track team owner.

Round 2 of the Hi-Tec Oils FX Superbike Championship was held at Queensland Raceway, a technical track in it's own right comprising of six turns and some lengthy straights, where a good rider and bike combination are both needed to be on the pace and running up the front . Mark stated, "The progression would not have been possible without the knowledge and dedication to racing by Scotty from Edge Com petition. Scotty was well supported by Tom and Jessie on the mechanical side of things while the Mick, Anthony, Alan and Christian kept the flow of the garage moving."

The YRD supported Yamaha R1's are proving to be a machine to be reckoned with accordin g to Chris, "After our first shake down on the superbike at round one we decided to do some testing in preparation for round two at QR. Being new to us this year, we needed to find a good base setting in suspension. After testing multiple setup's we've now got a good balance in the bike, only needing a little more time to fine tune the front end."

"Rd2 was a good result, giving us three out of five possible podiums and a overall P3 for the round. We have now progressed significantly in the championship to 3rd outright and are within 15pts of the championship leader." The team is impressed with the progress made on the new bikes and Chris is positive he can keep the momentum going and progress further in the coming rounds.

"I'm learning the team and the team is learni ng me, but from the results you can definitely see it is all going in the right direction." Explained Stephanie Redman having her best ever finish in the Supersport class with five 3rd place finishes and 3rd overall for the round. "I couldn't be happier wi th my YRD backed Yamaha R6, QR is a series of drag strips joined by some corners and thanks to Edge Competition I definitely had one of the fastest bikes out there." The team is very impressed with Stef's efforts as she not only posted a PB of 1:13.4 smashing her previous by over two seconds, but also performed at a high level consistently throughout the weekend.

Christian Carroll in Formula Oz was lining up for some podiums himself however a brake failure on the Friday going into turn four meant an early end to his weekend. "I'd never ridden the full circuit at QR before, so I was a little nervous with how'd I go. I took it nice and easy and each session progressed a little further reducing my lap times." Said Christian. “ Unfortunately, in the 4th session I had a mechanical failure where I sustained a fair amount of damage to the Yamaha R1 and with some small personal injuries I decided to not try to fix it to race the weekend." Both rider and bike are on the mend, "we are sure he will be back stronger than ever for round 3!" stated team owner, Mark.

"It was great to have so many familiar faces in the pits, huge thanks to our families for supporting Addicted to Track Racing and we are looking forward to another ‘home round’ in September at Lakeside." Mark.
